Tips to jump into creating

Tips to jump into creating

1. Budget time. To succeed, getting this creative time on the calendar is imperative.

2. Once you have begun, permit yourself to play.

3. Set a few goals for your time as guardrails. Hold them loosely as needed.

4. Invite other women to join you! This helps build community, invites collaboration, and offsets costs. (See below for a discount at Kestrel!)

5. Even if you are with other women, make sure to slip away for a little time alone in the quiet. The silence invites the Lord to whisper, creative ideas to emerge, and clear headspace to arrive.

6. Bring a journal. Write down anything and everything you begin hearing in the quiet spaces.

7. Push yourself through the ugly middle: go beyond, and make it great. Stick with it and allow yourself to learn.

8. Make yourself finish the page. Whether in your sketchbook or your writing practice, make sure to see it through.

9. Skip the excuses, find your "time wasters" (Instagram is always a suspect), and use the same 30 minutes you used to scroll, and instead, hop right into your creative practice! It is much more rewarding!
